Inspired by the sculpture “Scarlatti” by Mark di Suvero

The lonely maiden

Stands

with arms wide

Postures tight

She has no need in this world

Forgotten by mankind and their cities

Abandoned in a meadow

With only yellow daisies dancing

and crickets singing for her

She longs for this world

For the sky to embrace her hard steel body

The shrubs, they tickle

Her rusty feet

Their green washing away

her old dirt red

Yet she still waltzes

under the eternal blue

The wind, her partner

sways with her hanging arms

And they dance with stillness

Among the singing crickets
