We are highlighting two films today on our YouTube Channel created by Justin Thomas Gibbs, a Penn State alum who graduated with a major in Film and Video!

“Dissatisfaction”

‘Dissatisfaction’ follows the journey of a PSU art student (Georgina Arnott) as she aims to finish a piece she’s been tediously working on. The goal of this short experimental film is not only to provide a sense of relaxation through the music and process but also to serve as a ‘call-to-action’ for fellow creatives to always strive to do better than they did the last time, no matter what the creative medium may be. This message is echoed by the narration of famous painter Bob Ross, further providing a sense of calm through his words of advice.

“My Land”

‘My Land’ is an experimental parody piece inspired by different issues facing our social climate today. The main theme focuses on reclaiming what is yours, and defending it from any who may try to oppose you. The film originated by filming various short clips and slicing them together during post-production, giving free reign to explore various avenues that weave a story together. The short was a lot of fun to film, he tells us, and provided a great challenge for narrative story-telling.
