We are so excited to bring KLIO back after a long hiatus! With the craze of the pandemic, we were unable to create an edition in the fall of 2020 as we normally do, but we are ready to bring something extra special this semester.
This semester, we have quite a small staff: eight people! But between us, we have managed to come up with some really unique ideas to make this edition of KLIO stand out while our sister magazine, Kalliope, is also published in the same semester.
In order to differentiate ourselves, KLIO will be rolling out our literary, art, and even guest blog submissions as we receive them, starting today, March 1! This gives everyone a chance to enjoy work more than normal, as it gives our readers something to look forward to each week. We will still have our digital PDF copy of the magazine at the end of semester as a collection of all of the works we have published this semester, but we wanted to do something unique and hopefully keep all of you coming back for more reading.
As our Editor in Chief, I am hoping to bring out a newsletter to notify our subscribers as we roll out weekly blog posts from our staff and contributors, and our creative submissions once they begin. It will be a fun way to keep everyone up to date on all of our work, and it may even act as inspiration to submit yourselves!
Elise, our blog editor and PR coordinator, is preparing to roll out great posts introducing our staff, the magazine, and our community. She is creating content that will make sure everyone finds something fun on the site, including a series that will recommend pieces based on stories you may have read before. She is also preparing to start a series of guest blogs, where community members can pitch ideas to her at prompt.klio.psu@gmail.com and write them up for our blog!
Another new addition to our KLIO space is a YouTube channel created by Kalliope’s Editor in Chief, Morgan Seiff. With the help of our art director, Graham, Morgan has created a space to feature creative works, artist interviews, and other works that have yet to be featured by either publication. We are so excited to use our digital format in conjunction with a new space by showcasing the performing arts and filmmaking talents of Penn State.
The rest of our awesome staff– Aliyah, our poetry coordinator; Isabella, our fiction and music editor; Loren, our creative nonfiction coordinator and social media chair; and Mark, our website coordinator– are getting ready for all of your submissions to roll in! We can’t wait to see all of the creativity that Penn State has to offer, and we hope you enjoy this new version of KLIO as much as we do.
