Submissions

The FINAL deadline to submit is April 04, 2025.

We encourage, multiple submissions from each artist! |  Pieces that exceed this limit are less likely to be published. | Undergraduate and graduate students of ALL campuses are welcome to submit! |  All written works must be submitted as a Word document (.docx) | For visual art please scan the piece rather than submitting an image | Please include content warnings when and where applicable | If you run into any technical difficulties while submitting your piece, please contact us at submissions.klio@gmail.com | We do not accept submissions via postal service.

Fiction

  • 3,000 Word Maximum
  • 2 Submissions Max
  • Focus on the theme but don’t make the theme your whole focus, get creative with it
  • Genre can be whatever you want
  • Completely original content

Nonfiction

  • 2,000 words maximum
  • 3 submissions maximum
  • Pieces can focus on but are not limited to: themes surrounding nostalgia, childhood, family, relationships, etc.

Poetry

  • Maximum length: 2 full pages
  • Maximum number of entries: 6 poems
  • Poems with topics of nostalgia will take priority over other themes.
  • Include content warnings for mature themes
  • Submit your poems as you wish them to appear on the site (line breaks or any other stylistic choices included)

Visual Art

  • Maximum of 3 Submissions per person
  • Accepted File types: JPEG, PNG, PDF, DOCX
  • Needs to relate to “The Invisible Strings of Nostalgia” and evoke emotion
  • Submission should include Title, Author Name, and Image
  • Should adhere to University Guideline Standards (Plagiarized Material Will Not Be Used)
Music
  • Minimum of 2 minutes long, and a maximum of 5 minutes
  • Maximum of 3 submissions per person
  • The submissions must be on theme, relating in some way to nostalgia and the past. Please submit completely original content.

Film

  • Film length should be between 2-30 minutes
  • Maximum is two submissions per person
  • Submissions should be on theme and within university content standards
