Today, our Youtube Channel is featuring a film made by Jake Jurich. Jake is a senior majoring in Film/Video at Penn State University Park.

Separated from his only friend, a yellow duck embarks on a quest stuffed with 2D peril. 

Jake describes his inspiration behind the film:

Quackhead was my final film project for COMM 339, Experimental Filmmaking (Fall 2019). Each individual object was shot against a green screen, cut out and flattened to a colored 2D shape, and then it was animated into this void of faux-3D. An intricate score and sound design contrasting realism with the cartoonish visuals round out my experimental exploration of losing one’s childhood innocence.”

Jake Jurich grew up in Ashburn, VA, with one hand on a camera and the other dancing across a piano. He’s been infusing striking shots with sophisticated sound ever since, and his student films today are no exception.
