Yesterday, we shared a blog post featuring our second Artist Statement video. The video highlights Rebecca Balough, a Penn State graduate who earned a B.A. in film/video and a minor in English! Read the post (and watch the video on our YouTube channel!) to learn more about Balough as a filmmaker and screenwriter and what inspires her to create.

Today, we are highlighting two of Balough’s amazing films that are also on our YouTube channel.

“Filling the Void”

Two astronauts recount a mission gone wrong and why their commanding officer chose to stay behind.

“It Could Have Been Worse”

A short documentary about a poem and the accident that brought it to life.

Rebecca Balough is a director and screenwriter based in New York City. Both her work as a director and writer use whimsical and experimental tones to bring to life the small stories living among us. Her most recent work can be seen in the narrative short film “Postcards from Portland” or the animated experimental “Filling the Void,” both currently in their festival runs. When she isn’t behind the camera or bending over the page, Rebecca loves strolling till she finds a new coffee spot on the weekends, collecting house plants, and finding any excuse to end up at Home Depot.
