Amanda Nurse — Editor-in-Chief

Amanda Nurse is a senior studying English, Women’s Studies, and World Literature. Besides being Klio’s Editor-in-Chief, Amanda is interning at a tech startup called Alphy, where she writes content about advancing women, and she serves as a member of the fiction, nonfiction, and copyediting committees for Klio sister publication, Kalliope. Amanda has previously had her writing published in Folio 2019. One day, Amanda would love to spend her time writing novels and watching superhero movies in a cozy apartment in a big city, surrounded by books.

Elise Tecco — Blog Editor/PR Coordinator

Elise Tecco is a junior studying digital and print journalism with a minor in English. Elise has always had a passion for storytelling, whether it’s through the books she reads or the words she writes. Elise is a writer for VALLEY Magazine and has written over 40 web articles and 4 articles in print. She is also the president of Ed2010, a professional networking club that allows students to meet people in the editorial and creative field. Elise worked at her local bookstore over the summer and is currently interning for a New York literary agent. She loves nothing more than spending time with her family, listening to podcasts while walking outside, and spending a cozy night playing board games and watching her favorite movies. Someday, she hopes to work for a book publishing company and maybe even write a novel of her own!

Isabella Luciani — Fiction Editor and Music Coordinator

Isabella Luciani is a junior English and Psychology double major. Isabella has been reading and writing stories for as long as she can remember. She’s also on the Fiction and Copy-Editing Committees of Kalliope, Klio’s sister magazine. She is a member of the Volé dance org and has been dancing for seventeen years. In addition to writing fiction stories, Isabella also enjoys writing and playing music on her piano and guitar. She loves hiking, traveling, spending time outside, and archery. In the coming years, Isabella hopes to write and publish her first novel.

Loren Perry — Nonfiction Editor and Social Media Coordinator

Loren is a sophomore at Penn State University majoring in Secondary English Education with a minor in English. She grew up about twenty minutes outside of Pittsburgh, PA and is a member of Alpha Phi sorority. Writing has always been a passion of hers and remains her favorite way to express herself. One day, she hopes to be an educator that not only teaches content but also is a strong advocate for students everywhere. In Loren’s spare time, she enjoys watching Tiktok and YouTube, as well as singing and dancing. She also loves getting herself out of her comfort zone and meeting new people!

Aliyah Rios — Poetry Editor

Born and raised in Philadelphia, reading and writing was always a part of Aliyah Rios’ life . From her days of writing Austin Mahone fan-fiction and rereading all of John Green books to performing for spoken words and working with a couple literary magazines, her love for literature was embedded in everything she’s done. She is an English major with a Business minor, displays her writing skills for W.O.R.D.S’ shows while also staying in touch with her ethnic roots as a member in PRSA. After graduation, she intends to go after a career in book editing at a publishing firm.

Graham Millar — Art Editor

Meet Graham Millar, our Art Coordinator for this year at Klio!! He is an English Major at Penn State and an aspiring cartoonist. Some would say that Graham draws comics in his free time, but Graham doesn’t consider that his free time—it’s his vocation. He completed his first mini-comic, ‘Mozzarella; Rumble in the Jungle’ last February. Graham has a vested interest in professional publishing. Graham believes a book can function as an art object, and not just a nice story. Fortunately, Graham also has an appreciation for arts that aren’t printed on pulp-paper.

Mark LaBorde — Web Designer

Mark LaBorde is in his junior year at Penn State studying English and IST. He grew up here in State College, so attending Penn State for university was only natural.

Mark is interested in all things creative, including art and writing. He has a fondness for reading and writing Fantasy, in particular.

In addition to this, he is fascinated by technology and its intersection with art, so whenever he has time he does game development for a hobby.

Morgan Seiff — Film Editor and Kalliope Liaison

Inspired by the art of storytelling, Morgan Seiff devotes herself to sharing bold and affecting narratives every day. She is a senior Film-Video major with minors in English & Jewish Studies at The Pennsylvania State University who intends to balance her fiction- and scriptwriting talents with an editorial career to connect readers to new stories. As the editor in chief, Morgan orchestrates the production of Penn State’s Undergraduate Literary Magazine, Kalliope, which is published once a year and distributed to a campus of 50,000 students. When she’s not writing her honors thesis/novel-in-progress or shooting her latest short film, you can find Morgan playing fetch with her cat, Rizzo.

Alison Condie Jaenicke — Faculty Advisor

Alison Condie Jaenicke is faculty advisor for Kalliope, Penn State’s print undergraduate literary magazine, and teaches ENGL 209, Literary Journal Practicum, the class that creates a new edition of Klio once a year (currently spring semester) at Penn State University Park. Alison is an Assistant Teaching Professor and the Assistant Director of the Creative Writing Program in the English Department.
