Annika Shastry is a second-year Schreyer Honors College student and English major. As a lover of words and art, Annika is involved in many publications on campus such as Kalliope, for which she is the production head, and The Daily Collegian, for which she is a graphic designer. She is excited to add KLIO to the mix and serve as KLIO’s Editor-in-Chief this semester. Annika relates to the song “Walking and Falling” by Laurie Anderson, and she hates soggy scrambled eggs.

Managing Editor: Hannah Fritzinger

Hannah Fritzinger is a third-year student at Penn State majoring in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in English. In addition to serving as the Managing Editor of KLIO, she is also a Mental Health and Wellness Reporter with the university’s student-run publication, The Daily Collegian. She has been told by her mother the song “Little Red Corvette”  by Prince is the song that best describes her. Her least favorite food is tomatoes (gag-inducing).

Blog Editor: Megan Kelby

Megan Kelby is the blog editor, member of the nonfiction committee, and member of the proofreading/editing committee for KLIO 2023. She is a third-year majoring in print/digital journalism with minors in history and English, and is a writer for both CommRadio and Onward State. A song that describes her is the masterpiece that is “Stolen Dance” by Milky Chance. Her least favorite food is cottage cheese. No explanation needed.

Assistant Blog Editor: Anjani Jayakar

Anjani Jayakar is a second-year student and the assistant blog editor for KLIO 2023. She is undecided on her major, but eventually wants to end up in a conservation-related career. She loves to volunteer at the Penn State Arboretum and is working on getting her instructor certification in Tang Soo Do. Anjani thinks that a song that describes her is “Wi ing Wi ing” by Hyukoh. She hates bell peppers.

University Park Outreach Coordinator: Zoey Joseph

Zoey Joseph’s position for KLIO is the University Park Outreach and Initiatives. She is currently a second-year majoring in advertising. Outside of KLIO, she is a part of VALLEY magazine’s advertising team, as well as a member of Phi Sigma Sigma and fundraising specialist for her THON committee. Her least favorite food is tomatoes.

Public Relations Coordinator: Reagan March

Reagan March is a first-year student studying Public Relations/Advertising. She is currently the Public Relations Coordinator for KLIO. She is also on the PR staff for VALLEY Magazine where she runs a Spotify playlist. She is a member of ED2010. She loves to consume media, whether that is having movie marathons with her family, cracking open a new book or binging a new TV show. She has been involved with the creative arts her entire life and has always had a passion for art, music, and writing. She hopes to continue expanding her PR experience in the future. A song that describes her would be “Learn to Fly” by The Foo Fighters. Reagan’s least favorite food would be hot sauce or anything cover in it!

Translation Initiative/International Student Outreach Coordinator: Christine Bahk

Chris Bahk is the Translation Initiative/International Student Outreach for KLIO. They are an English Major and Minor in Psych, but would like to minor in Korean. They are in their third year,  and on the Eboard of the Creative Writing Club as Social chair. Chris is also in the Penn State Campus Band. “lilypad” from comfi beats or “rises the moon” from Lina Flores are songs that would best describe them. Chris’ least favorite food is fish eggs.

Fiction Editor: Katie Volz

Katie is a second-year student at Penn State, and is minoring in English, while combining Archaeology and Medieval Studies to create her own major. She is the Fiction Editor for this semester’s KLIO staff. She is also part of Kalliope and Vaccinate America. Katie enjoys writing Historical Fiction, Sci-fi, and Mystery, and can usually be found with a steaming cup of Earl Grey (hot) planning her next short story or crafting an essay full of antics from past vacations. One song that describes Katie is “You Need To Calm Down” by Taylor Swift, and carrots are her least favorite food.

Creative Non-Fiction Editor: Christine Choung

Christine Choug is the Creative Non-Fiction editor for KLIO. Her major is Digital Arts and Media Design, and she is a first-year student. Outside of KLIO she is not involved with many other extracurriculars. She mainly enjoys pursuing her  passions outside of school like practicing art in the studio or designing. “Started from the Bottom” by Drake would be a song that best describes her. Christine’s least favorite food is beans. Christine HATES beans

Poetry Editor: Claire Williams

Claire Williams is a third-year Schreyer Honors Scholar studying English, and  the KLIO 2023 Poetry Editor. For the past year, she has been working as a peer writing tutor with Penn State Learning. Claire began an ongoing Bednar internship with Penn State Libraries’ Open Publishing Program last fall, in which she does accessibility and online publishing work. Outside of academics, she has been a Penn State THON volunteer since her first year as a student. For the last two years, she has shaved her head in support of the cause. A song that describes Claire would be “Her Bangs” by JAWNY, and her least favorite kind of food is seafood.

Art Coordinator: Sobi Mere

Sobi Mere is a first-year student currently majoring in Pre-Medicine. She is the art coordinator for KLIO and a member of the art and poetry committees. She is also a part of the website development and ekphrastic initiative team. She has a passion for the sciences, especially biobehavioral health. When she is not designing clothing, modeling, or playing volleyball, she is usually watching interrogation videos and fueling her avid interest in criminology. The song “Last Call” by Khalid best describes her, and her least favorite food is asparagus.

Music/ Audio Coordinator: Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson is the music/audio coordinator as well as the W.O.R.D.S liaison for KLIO 2023. Jackson is a second-year student majoring in Criminology. He is also a member of W.O.R.D.S, a spoken poetry organization here on campus. A song  that describes him is Nipsey Hussle, “Dedication”. His least favorite food would have to be anything that contains beans.

Film Coordinator: Adam Waxman

Film Coordinator Adam Waxman is a second-year student studying Digital and Print Journalism. Outside of KLIO, he is a baseball beat reporter for the Daily Collegian and the Vice President of the Student Hockey League, an intramural ice hockey league for students at Penn State. A song that describes Adam is “Viva la Vida” by Coldplay, and his least favorite food is any kind of fish.

Webmaster: Rivka Wolin

Rivka Wolin is the Webmaster for KLIO. She is majoring in Digital and Print Journalism and is in her second year at Penn State. Some of her extracurriculars include: The Daily Collegian News Candidate, Social Media manager for the PSNtv Documentary. “Summer’s End” by Biosphere is a song that would best describe her. Rivka dislikes peas, specifically loose peas. She can eat them in the pod but not by the spoonful.

Faculty Advisor: Alison Jaenicke

Alison Condie Jaenicke is faculty advisor for Kalliope, Penn State’s print undergraduate literary magazine, and teaches ENGL 209, Literary Journal Practicum, the class that creates a new edition of KLIO once a year (currently spring semester) at Penn State University Park. Alison is an Assistant Teaching Professor and the Assistant Director of the Creative Writing Program in the English Department. A song that would describe Alison would be “Short Skirt/Long Jacket” by Cake, especially the line: “she is touring the facility and picking up slack.” Alison is not a fan of black licorice.
